Medical Marijuana

Dr. George provides full evaluations for patients interested in qualifying for the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP).  We work with patients that want to adhere to the rules set by the State of Oregon.  We do not promote the sale or abuse of medical marijuana like some other clinics around the state do.  We are a medical office and we do not provide seeds, plants, clones, bud, or any other form of cannabis and we are not a dispensary.

To apply for the OMMP, we require you to complete our Eligibility Questionnaire to insure that you are a potential candidate for the program.  We also require the last two years of medical records from all your medical providers, such as your primary care doctor, specialists, hospital, etc.  Your records must document what your current medical problem(s) are and must show visits to your doctor within the last 12 months. Find the OMMP forms here on our information page.

The normal fee to the OMMP office in Portland is $200.

Discounts are available if you have:

Oregon Health Plan (OHP):  your fee is $50.

SNAP (food stamps):  your fee is $60.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI; which is not Social Security or disability), then your fee is $20.

If you are a veteran and can provide proof of your military service; then your fee is $20.

If you specify another person to be your grower; if you grow at a site other than where you live; if you grow more than 12 plants; or if you take any plants or products to a dispensary or processor:  there is an extra $200 registration fee.

Our fee for completing your evaluation, reviewing records, discussing treatment options, and performing a comprehensive physical at our office is available here, on our pricing page.

Patients with financial hardships or those traveling long distance to our clinic could qualify for a reduced fee. Call us to inquire.

If you’re looking for better medical service with more professionalism, come see the care our patients enjoy without all the drama.

Remember that Dr. George personally:

  • Reviews your medical records, unlike some clinics that use untrained and uncertified volunteers.
  • Performs your physical examination, not some Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) who often fails to perform one at all.
  • Gives you additional medical advice relevant to your whole medical condition, not just your cannabis related qualifying condition(s).

Be aware that there are multiple abuses taking place within the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program.  Growers are the most common abusers of the program, but caregivers and patients also are guilty of abuses.  Clinics that require you to sign up with their growers and other such abuses are also occurring around the state.  You have the right to select your own grower and should not be “assigned” to someone you do not know.  You have the right to know where your grow site is.

These are typical abuses by some clinics that keep you out of the “loop.” If you choose to follow “their rules,” then you are signing away your rights, and you will probably pay the consequences. Remember, you have been warned.

Many of these cannabis clinics fail to perform recommended follow-up visits as required by the state.  Oregon law wants patients seen for follow-up, but unfortunately does not specify the time-frame in which to do it in.  So most clinics just say “we will see you in a year,” which is when their card expires.  That’s NOT good medical care especially for first-time users of medical marijuana who may have questions and side effects that may need to be addressed far earlier than one year down the road.

Dr. George recommends a 6-month follow-up for almost all of his medical marijuana patients; occasionally he will recommend something sooner if there are more concerns.  Due to those sub-standard clinics telling patients that they can save money by not going to see Dr. George “because he requires you to do follow-ups,” we will allow patients to meet with our medical assistant to gather the information that Dr. George needs to keep updated of your condition.  That type of visit is given at NO cost to patients.  None of those other clinics ever offer clinic visits for free.  If you want to meet with Dr. George, then there is a reasonable fee of $60 for the follow-up visit.  If you live more than 30 minutes away from Dr. George’s clinic, he will allow you to do telephone follow-ups.

What’s even more comical is the fact that many of these sub-standard medical clinics are using modified copies of Dr. George’s forms that he created.  They are too stupid or lazy to create their own, so they just edit his forms and remove the information that they don’t want to comply with.  So sad that they have become as bad as some regular medical clinics that just want your money and care less about your health.

Also beware of their “group” sessions where they discuss all sorts of medical and legal issues that may at times compromise your confidentiality.  They don’t care about privacy.  For them it’s all about getting you in and out as fast as they can.  If you like feeling like cattle and herded in groups, then by all means go and get your “branding” done with them.
